- I just installed WinVN 0.90.6 and there are many things that
- I like about it. However there is something that I would like
- to find my way around. After I "see" an article, it gets flagged
- with an "s", then I leave the newsgroup, or even the
- entire software package. I then re-enter the group and I still
- see a listing of all articles in the group, including the ones
- flagged with an "s".
-
- Is it possible to have the software not display the already "seen"
- articles, and to adjust the count of articles in a particulargroup accordingly? This is what I am accustomed to seeing on
- newsreaders on our Sun SPARC. Email or posting to this newsgroup
- would be fine.
-
- Many thanks,
-
- Seth

-
- Does Chameleon have a .cfg for netcom?
-
- I have my unixware ppp server setup for protocol field compression,
- address control field compression and VJ TCP/IP compression and the Chameleon
- sampler connects just fine. BTW the performance increased markedly
- when i enabled them :->
-
- I didn't have to do anything at the Chameleon end - I only wish that I had
- proper documentation on the Chameleon sampler capabilities.

- Subject: Trumpet Winsock Problem ?!
-
- I have been trying to get a connection between a HP-UX 9.0 SLIP (ppl) server
- and Trumpet Winsock 1.0 through a DIRECT connected line (9600,8,1). As you
- can guess without any luck, however when I try to ping some host I get the
- following errors:
-
- ICMP transmit error
- ICMP transmit error
- ICMP transmit error
-
- and so on.....
-
-
- Has anyone experienced similar connection problems,
- and better yet, solved them ??

- Subject: Winsock Compatible Mail System which Receives via SMTP?
-
- I need to set up two functionally identical SLIP/Winsock systems, one on my
- desktop system and one on my subnotebook (HP Omnibook 300) for when I am
- traveling. On my desktop system I am running Chameleon 4.04 and I have things
- set up the way I want them. On my subnotebook I am unable to use the Chameleon
- products because they require that Windows be run in 386 enhanced mode and my
- Omnibook will only run Windows in standard mode. I have gotten the Trumpet
- Winsock, the Trumpet newsreader, and Cello and all are running quite well on
- the Omnibook. My only hitch is mail.
-
- The two most popular mail programs (Eudora and Pegasus) only receive mail via
- pop. I need to RECEIVE and send mail via smtp since I have a couple of user
- codes in my domain. Neither of these programs seems to permit that option.
- They use smtp to send mail, but they receive via pop.
-
- I have been refered to a winsock compatible smtp daemon which would probably
- work, but it doesn't include a mail application to use with it.
-
- So on one hand I have mail without smtp receive and on the other I have smtp
- receive without mail. Is anyone aware of either a winsock compatible mail
- program which will run in standard mode and receive mail via smtp or a mail
- application which is compatible with the winsock compatible smtp daemon which
- is available from cica?
-
- Somehow I anticipated a problem with the SLIP or the Winsock, I never thought
- it would be mail which is hanging me up and keeping me from working out a
- completely functional system.
-
- Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
